Jundong “JD” Ma is the founder and principal attorney of JDM Patent Law PLLC. Mr. Ma has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in the areas of 3G wireless communications, software (graphical user interfaces, computer imaging, database, VoIP, PKI-based security), electronic circuits (CMOS, MOSFET), digital signal processing, business method, medical devices, and etc., over 100 of which have been successfully issued to patents. Mr. Ma was particularly skilled in utilizing Examiner interviews to help advance and expedite prosecution of an application with the aim to convince the Examiner to allow the application on merits so as to have the patent issued without going through a lengthy and expensive appeal process. Mr. Ma also has extensive experience in litigation support, client counseling, licensing and rendering legal opinions on patent-related matter.

Prior to starting JDM Patent Law PLLC, Mr. Ma worked as a patent attorney for a mid-size IP boutique firm in Washington D.C. Prior to that, Mr. Ma began his patent legal career as a patent law clerk at a small IP boutique firm in Alexandria, Virginia while attending law school. Notable clients for which Mr. Ma worked include Samsung, Phillips, Hubble, XM Radio and American Express.    

Prior to becoming a patent practitioner, Mr. Ma had been an experienced and accomplished computer engineer. From 1994 to 2006, Mr. Ma spent 12 years working or consulting for technology startups in Silicon Valley as well as established technology companies. During this time, Mr. Ma developed 16-bit SEGA Genesis and 32-bit SEGA Saturn video games in wrestling, online bond-trading systems, real-time stock charting software, cross-platform web server plug-in modules for securing online credit card transactions, bio-informatics applications, and enterprise database applications for handling large environmental database for the federal government.

Mr. Ma is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
